Story: Kashvi and Shaimaa
In this video Kashvi confides in her friend, Shaimaa about how she’s struggling.
Kasvhi: I don't know I'm a mess. I'm behind in all my classwork. I missed my shift yesterday, and everyone thinks I'm ignoring them, but I just can't keep up with life.
Shaimaa: Yeah, that's a lot to handle. You know, you don't have to go through this all alone, though, right?
Kashvi: I just feel like I don't have time right now, like I know I should probably talk to someone, but how do people even find a therapist or counselor or whatever? It's overwhelming to even think about.
Shaimaa: I get that. Let's break it down. We can go over this stuff together. Can I help you out with doing some searching? We can see what the school has.
Kashvi: Are you sure you just thought you were coming over for a coffee? And now I'm putting you to work
Shaimaa: Of course. And once you find the right person for you to talk to, I'll put your appointments in my calendar and remind you if it's coming up, if that's okay?
Kashvi: That would actually be amazing. My brain fog is out of control right now. I keep forgetting about everything.
Shaimaa: We'll figure this out. Did you want to give the school counselor a try first? Totally up to you.
Kashvi: Maybe. What do I say to them?
Shaimaa: It's more of an opportunity to get to know each other and see if it's a good fit. Let's take a look at what the first appointment is usually like.
Kashvi: I don't even know how to thank you.
Shaimaa: There might be a wait list at school, but there's a few places you can call for free and talk to someone in the meantime.
Kashvi: Thank you. I feel a bit lighter, already.
Shaimaa: Good. That's what I'm here for.
